 A FEW WORDS ABOUT SOST

Our School Motto, Mission and Vision Statements are clearly articulated with the University's Core Values and Ambitions, as highlighted in the recently launched UOG Strategic Plan (2023 - 2027). The attributes of our graduates are some of the best in the business, and they can easily adapt to the professional and technical challenges in the public and private sectors.

Vision

A leading School that produces confident, responsible, respectful, resilient, highly motivated, skilful and knowledgeable learners for life.

Mission

To create innovative minds through scientific approaches

School Motto

Imparting Scientific Knowledge for Tomorrow

The School of Science and Technology has six Divisions, led by the Head of the Division (HOD), who all report to the Executive Dean. They have, in turn, strands and strand leaders for the subject disciplines. The academics are appointed at the Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, and Senior Tutor levels based on their qualifications, academic experience and suitable research background. The School is also comprised of two external campuses offering the School's academic programmes, one in Wabag, Enga Province and the second one is the Baiynik Campus in East Sepik Province.

The Six Divisions under the School of Science & Technology are:

  1. Division of Agriculture and Rural Development

  2. Division of Biological Sciences

  3. Division of Health Sciences

  4. Division of Mathematics and Computer Science

  5. Division of Physical Sciences

  6. Division of Sports and Exercise Sciences

The Academic programmes offered through the School of Science and Technology are diverse, from Bachelor of Agriculture Extension to Bachelor of Science (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science (Cyber Security), Environmental Science, Mathematics and Physics) programmes, which have been accredited by DHERST since 2014. Other important external stakeholders are also involved in accrediting our programs, like the NDOH for our Health programmes and the Nursing Council for the Bachelor of Midwifery programme.

The School also has highly qualified and experienced academics and support staff who have contributed to the School's development over the years. Without the expertise, commitment and invaluable contributions of these staff, producing quality graduates towards achieving the University's Motto, 'Creating the Future,' would not be possible.

We wish to assure you that every effort has been made to ensure our academic programmes are written well and approved by the University Academic Senate, meeting its Standards, and further accredited by the DHERST National Quality Framework (NQF) and benchmarking thus enabling HECAS Scholarship for all our programmes. The content levels are usually revised and upgraded annually to meet national and international levels.

We are proud to inform you that some of our recent UOG graduates have furthered their studies overseas to upgrade their qualifications by receiving international scholarships such as AAPNG Awards, Common Wealth Scholarships and European Union Scholarships. You could also become one of those successful recipients if you get admitted into one of our programmes and show determination and commitment towards your studies.
