Our School is the main feature that makes University of Goroka exceptional. There is no institution that has history as we do when it comes to quality teacher training. People from all walks of life aspire to come and study here. The University programs following the Reforms is intended to deliver high-quality training of teachers for Early Childhood Centers, High School and Secondary Schools, content upgrade for Junior and Senior High Schools, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education, Special Education, Technical Vocational Education and Training and Tertiary Teacher Education Sectors. Embrace the PNG Vision 2050, Medium Term Development Plans, Strategic Development Goals, National Executive Council’s decision to unify, reform and transform the higher education sector, government’s focus on teacher training, as well as structural and curriculum reforms in the education system focusing on Standard Based Curriculum by offering courses and programs necessary to meet the demands created by these reforms.

The functions of the School of Education includes:

Train secondary school teachers through specific content based programs.
Upgrade teacher qualifications through specialized in-service programs.
Provide avenue for under graduates to pursue post graduate and higher degree qualifications.
Encourage and support academic staff to undertake research and publications.
Networking with external partners in education related activities.
Develop educational programs focusing on the human resources needs of the country.
Support the educational policies and directions of the national government.
